Angus Power is a member of ZooShare, a Toronto-based not-for-profit coop that hopes to build a biogas plant to turn zoo poo into green energy. Today, ZooShare’s community bonds go on sale to the public to fund construction.

The non-profit ZooShare Biogas Co-operative hopes to break ground on the biogas plant next July.  It’s anticipated the plant will annually convert 3,000 tonnes of zoo manure, along with 15,000 tonnes of grocery store food waste, into 4.1 million kilowatt hours of energy – sufficient to power 250 homes.
